VoLTE stands for Voice (as in, placing calls) over LTE (as in, the internet). VoLTE allows you to make and receive calls with your FreedomPop phone number, using your phone's LTE internet connection.

Not all phones support VoLTE. If you have a VoLTE capable phone, read on for answers to some frequently asked questions about VoLTE calling:

Does VoLTE use my FreedomPop voice minutes and/or LTE data?

VoLTE will deduct your minutes at the same rate as a regular call, but will not deduct from your LTE data balance.

How do I know if my phone is capable of VoLTE calling?

If your phone is capable of VoLTE calling, you will see the option to enable it within your phone's Settings application.

On Androids, this setting can usually be found in Mobile Networks.

On iPhones, you will see the option under Settings > Cellular > Cellular Data Options.

How do I set up VoLTE on my FreedomPop account?

Your FreedomPop account is already configured to allow for VoLTE calling. You do not have to take any additional steps on your account. Simply enable VoLTE on your Android or iPhone.

For questions, customer service can be contacted at freedompop.com via live chat in the bottom right corner of the page, or contact us by email at support@freedompop.com, or by calling (888) 702-8302.

How do I use VoLTE?

All you need to do now is to enable VoLTE calling on your phone and set your preferences. You must enter a physical address before turning VoLTE on.

When you place a call to emergency services (like 911) your address is automatically detected to allow emergency services to send responders to your location. When using VoLTE you disable the ability to automatically detect your location, because you are switching from regular voice calls to a digital version of calling.

For this reason, your address is required before you can enable VoLTE functionality. Once enabled, whenever you have access to the LTE network, your phone can switch to VoLTE calling (depending on your set preferences).

Is WiFi calling different from VoLTE?

WiFi calling allows you to make and receive calls and text messages using a WiFi network. VoLTE and WiFi calling are similar, but they are not the same.

VoLTE uses the internet connection provided by your phone's calling plan. WiFi calling uses the internet connection provided by a separate WiFi network.

If you've got a phone, that has WiFi calling capabilities, then you may be able to take advantage of WiFi calling. Learn more about WiFi calling here.
