What happens to my old Pre-Paid SIM card plan?
If your current billing cycle is scheduled to end after 10/15/2020, the remaining plan balance will be honored on your new account. After you validate your SIM card the system should recognize your preloaded plan. If your plan isn't transferred automatically, contact us.
At this time, FreedomPop Premium SIMs do not provide a multi-month payment option. Our plans are month-to-month. Please visit https://www.freedompop.com/plans to see the plans we offer.
What is a Pre-Paid SIM card?
FreedomPop offers GSM phone service on a month to month basis or through a pre-paid, pre-loaded SIM card. With a pre-paid SIM card, you purchase your talk, text, and data plan for a full year (or 3 months) at one upfront cost.
Prepaid SIMs may be available in third party stores, like BestBuy.
SIMs purchased in stores
After you purchase a FreedomPop pre-loaded SIM card in store, you will be able to visit freedompop.com/activate to start your service. You will not be asked for any credit card information to complete your activation because you have already paid for your plan in the store.
This means, you must add credit or debit card information to your account when it's time to renew your plan (after the first 3 months or the first 12 months, depending on the SIM card you purchased). Once added, you will automatically be charged for your plan and the service will renew.
SIMs purchased online
If you purchased your pre-paid SIM card online, you'll put credit or debit card information into the checkout page, for a one-time only charge of your talk, text and data plan.
After your SIM card arrives in the mail, log into the FreedomPop account used to make the order and, in a separate tab, visit www.freedompop.com/activate and follow activation instructions.
Credit or debit card information will already be added to your account, from the initial purchase. Therefore, when it's time to renew your plan (after the first 3 months or the first 12 months, depending on the SIM card you purchased) you will automatically be charged for your plan and the service will renew.
After activation
Once your SIM card has been activated, insert it into a compatible GSM unlocked Android or iPhone device. Most phones have a SIM card tray that you will access using a SIM removal tool (or a paperclip). For help inserting your SIM card, click here.
Next, you’ll have to complete APN configuration settings. Click here to learn how.
